Holidays in Spain
Spain is an extraordinarily rich country. Rich in culture, music, architecture and history; rich in stunningly diverse landscapes, from mountain ranges to beautiful, unspoilt beaches; rich in cuisine and in fine wine; rich in fiestas and celebrations from the traditional to the bizarre. Add to that the warmth, exuberance and friendliness of the people and the beautiful, reliable climate, and you can see why Spain remains as one of the most popular destinations in the world for a villa holiday. From the style and culture of Madrid and Barcelona to the glorious sunshine and beaches of the Costa Del Sol, the nightlife of Ibiza to the tranquility and beauty of the Basque Country, Spain is a country to return to again and again.
Experience the energy of the capital Madrid, with its vibrant nightlife, world-class restaurants and the magnificent art collections on display in its museums and galleries. Wander the streets of cosmopolitan Barcelona admiring the architecture of the Gothic Quarter, the buzz of La Ramblas, the sheer audacity of Gaudi's Sagrada Familia, or just head straight for the beach for a game of beach volleyball, a drink in one of the beachfront bars, or an afternoon-long siesta on the sand.
Travel north to the immensely beautiful Basque Country and experience the culinary delights of the region's capital San Sebastien, home to as many Michelin stars as Paris. From there, a trip west along a coastline strewn with attractive villages takes you to Bilbao, home of the magnificent Museo Guggenheim.
Visit the spectacular, futuristic Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias (City of Arts and Sciences) in the old riverbed in Valencia, a city fast emerging from the shadow of its two 'bigger brothers' Barcelona and Madrid. Famed for its nightlife and noisy fiestas (the week-long pyrotechnic celebration of Las Fallas every March needs to be seen and heard to be believed), Valencia is also one of Spain's main cultural centres, it has a charming and bohemian old town, and a recently regenerated waterfront which successfully hosted the Americas Cup yacht race in 2007.
Just south of Valencia is the Costa Blanca, a hugely popular stretch of golden coastline, with some of the best beaches the Mediterranean has to offer. Towns like Alicante, Denia and Javea boast all the best of the region in terms of beaches whilst retaining much of their old Spanish charm. It is also an area which is big on golf. Many of the villas available here are perfectly placed for access to some of the best golf courses on the continent, all drenched in the reliable sunshine the area is noted for.
Southern Spain is all about Andalusia, the most quintessentially 'Spanish' part of the country. This is the country of flamenco dancers and matadors, tapas and sherry, Roman ruins and Moorish palaces, none more spectacular than the famous Alhambra in Granada. Spend the morning skiing on the Sierra Nevada, before driving down to the coast for an afternoon swim in the sea.
For those wanting to get away from the mainland, the Balearic Islands are a haven of beautiful landscapes, perfect beaches, and secluded tranquillity. Ibiza may be world-famous for its lively nightlife, but it is equally able to offer blissful peace and quiet.Just across the way is Mallorca, home to the Balearics only real city, the increasingly-trendy Palma. With its magnificent Gothic cathedral, boutique shops, attractive cobbled streets and courtyards, vibrant cultural scene, and a range of high quality bars and restaurants, there is much to discover and love in the capital. Mallorca has undergone something of a facelift of recent years, and now boasts some outstanding modern facilities to go alongside its obvious natural assets - stunning beaches, clear blue sea, glorious sunshine, and a wonderfully varied inland terrain perfect for hiking, horse-riding or cycling.
For summer 2020 we now feature over 500 luxury villas in Spain and across the Balearic islands. All of the luxury villas listed with us come with a private pool and are available to rent direct.
